Sunday Evening with Buddha

December 8, 2019 by Carolyn Martin Leave a Comment

It happens this way …

While doing some research on the Buddha for a poem, I came across a series of his quotations tonight. I thought I’d share some of my favorites.DSC00735

Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.

You only lose what you cling to.

You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.

Your work is to discover your work and then with all your heart to give yourself to it.

Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.

Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.

If you light a lamp for somebody, it will also brighten your path.

All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become.

People with opinions just go around bothering one another.

It is better to travel well than to arrive.

Happiness will never come to those who fail to appreciate what they already have.

It is ridiculous to think that somebody else can make you happy or unhappy.

When you realize how perfect everything is, you will tilt your head back and laugh at the sky.

******

Here’s to lifting up our eyes to the sky and laughing!

This was perfect timing Carolyn. I was just about ready to help a person who is dear to my heart struggling with some issues at home. Nothing dangerous or having to do with an illness however it’s something that needs attention quickly. Reading these quotes had a calming effect on me and I feel at peace that what I’ll be sharing is what needs to be heard as is the best way to address the situation. Carolyn strikes again!!!!!!

    Carolyn

Thank you for sharing. Yesterday at church we celebrated the Buddhists.

We spent Thanksgiving in Sacramento with our son and daughter-in-law. Home for 9:days and then off to Austin for Christmas with our daughter and her family

Merry Christmas to you and Kathy

I love the synchronicity, Geri! Safe trip to Austin. Let’s plan a meet-up in early 2020!
