Fresh air, blue skies, and RBG

It happens this way …

It’s been months since I opened this page to write a blog. So much has happened since last June — some depressing, some discouraging, some inspiring.  You know what I mean so there’s no need to spell it out.

I just want to share two things with you today:

1). I’ve been praying to the Notorious RBG every day since she died, putting all the political shenanigans into her capable hands. She’ll figure them out! (I suspect she sent that fly to sit on the VP’s head at last night’s debate.) Ever since I’ve started to connect with her, I’ve experienced a great sense of relief. The USA is in more capable hands than in my worrying ones.

2).  We went on our first getaway since September 2019, arriving on a beautiful Monday afternoon in Seaside, Oregon. We spent a lot of time outdoors breathing the fresh air, enjoying the blue skies, the sunset, and even the fog rolling in. Everyone down there was wearing masks inside buildings and some even outdoors. Lots of “hello’s” to strangers and sweet eye contact above masks. Being able to go outside is not something we take for granted any more after the fires and smoke of September.

Here are a few of the sights we experienced. Enjoy them with us.

Lovely photos! How lucky that you could do a little getaway. We haven’t done one since over the New Year, but we are lucky, too, that we have plenty of places to walk outdoors around here. We visited the Pacific Northwest on a road trip in 2016; I recognize some of this. We drove the to Olympic National Park, then headed south to Oregon only going as far as Newport (where we stayed for one night) before it was time to head back toward Minnesota. Such a beautiful part of the country. I’d love to return sometime.

At first I laughed at the idea of you praying to RBG— then I realized I’ve been praying to Jews all my life! Love your pictures, too.
