It happens this way …
Like most of you, I keep searching for ways to stay sane during these challenging times. When I can’t write or garden, I’m out in the yard with my camera. But how many pictures can one take?
However, I found a new photo editing app that has been turning my photos into interesting creations. Since I’m not a painter, I’m loving what happens as I run them through a variety of filters. But, being a practical person, I’m wondering what can I do with them — in addition to creating greeting cards? (Some of you snail-mailers out there have used my cards before.)
So, here’s a question: What else can I do with these images that would stretch my creativity beyond taking pictures, creating new images, and making cards? Any and all suggestions will be gratefully — and creatively — appreciated.
Also, if you are so inclined, would you like to share what has lit your creative fires while you mask-up and self-distance? We’d all like to know!
Be safe. Be well. Be creative.
Absolutely beautiful! How about printing some of them? Putting them in frames and giving as 🎁
Wow! These are absolutely wonderful. I’m particularly taken with the image of the roses… I’m working hard on re-establishing that old garden plot I talked to you about. And, of course, writing poetry.
Such gorgeous images. They transport me.
oh oh oh gorgeous! You are one of the most creative women I know. Maybe (a very broad hint is coming) make some cards? I only have one left of yours. I only send mine to very very special people and to very special people I have been sending yours. I love you dearly!
Lovely unsubtle hint! I have some prints of these coming and you will be at the top of the list to get some cards. My pleasure!
What fun you’re having with the photos! I, too, take my camera outside often. Spending time in the garden shooting photos is one of my favorite things.I get to be creative, I get to be outside, I get to be very much in the moment. Win-win-win. What to do with your creations? Besides make cards? Make your own art journal. Use your pics as the visuals for ekphrastic writing. Have a slide show on your blog every so often. Print out your favorite(s) and hang them on your walls. Upload some to Shutterfly to print on metal or on potholders or mugs and make gifts. Share them as cover art for friends who are making chapbooks. Most important? If they make you happy, then they are already serving a purpose.
Oh Carolyn these are just wonderful. I love all the pictures. I just don’t know how you can be a master at so many things.
Hi Carolyn, besides art, gardening, and soup making I have started online classes to refresh my high school and college Spanish which I have not used in decades. Makes my mind open and of course that opens other creative avenues. As for your photos just a couple of thoughts: 1) you could have them printed on canvas 2) use them to illustrate your poems 3) print them in gray shade on good quality paper or yupo and try painting in with water color or your translucent inks.
On line Spanish classes? Awesome, Shawn! You are indeed one of the premier creatives I know!
Great ideas for me! Never thought of gray-shading them, printing them on yupo, and then painting with alcohol ink! I’ll give that a try! Thank you!
Carolyn,
Beautiful Photos! As a former Hospice Nurse, your photo scenes could evoke calm as well as perhaps pleasant memories of gardening etc for many patients—- Maybe you could enrich the walls ( or even bedside tables in smaller frames ) of an In-Patient Hospice Center nearby and/or Hospital Out-Patient Chemo department…? Your images surely provide thoughts of peace and tranquility.
These are wonder full! Your gifts never cease to amaze! I love all of the photos but my favorite is the 2nd to last … the daisy with raindrops clinging to it?!
As to what creative endeavors I have been up to lately, trying to come up with projects to use up the leftover yarn from other projects. Running out of ideas and people to give them to…
Hi, Sharon,
This article was posted on June 30 and some people are only receiving it now! Ah, technology!
Here’s to your yarn project! You are so talented with those hands.
Hope you folks are well in your world.
Love,
C.
I would love to see you make calendars, to brighten the flow of time for anyone who sees these pictures. You could do a standard one picture a month calendar, or better yet, a desk calendar with one picture a week. What do you think?
