Celebrate National Poetry Month at the Happy Valley Library
April 3 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Join Carolyn for three poetry workshops at the beautiful Happy Valley Library.
Wednesday, April 3, 2019, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.
“I, too, dislike it”
So begins Marianne Moore’s delightful commentary on the nature of poetry. In this lively, interactive workshop, we’ll look at the work of Billy Collins, James Wright, Natasha Trethewey, Kay Ryan, Robert Frost, and William Butler Yeats to illustrate what makes this art form so likable – even loveable. We’ll celebrate the joy of language used with such passion and intensity that it may inspire your own writing.
Wednesday, April 10, 2019, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.
Where Inspiration Comes Sliding Through
In this lively, interactive workshop, we will share sources of inspiration that can enliven your own writing. Using her own poems as springboards, Carolyn will discuss themes, techniques, and strategies that will offer you the freedom to experiment with poetry in new and exciting ways.
Wednesday, April 17, 2019, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.
Inspiration isn’t something you wait around for – although that’s one approach. Rather, it’s something you can consciously chase and catch in innumerable ways. This workshop will focus on the best strategies to ignite your inspiration when the Muse has stopped sending lightning strikes. We’ll begin with a writing exercise that will prove that point. You’ll leave with ideas that will keep you chasing inspiration for months to come.
All workshops are limited to 12 participants. Register TODAY at the library: 503-783-3456.
